Bowing in Korea is not just a typical greeting but it shows also courtesy. Koreans don’t wave their hands to say hello or bye to the elders or seniors. Only with friends of course that hand waving is common. However, when greeting elders or older people, you should bow.

Interestingly, there are degree of the bow in which it depends on the politeness, social status, and seniority.  The common bow courtesy most Korean people used is by bending about 15 degrees with your face downward. To show the highest degree of politeness, you must bend the head and waist for about 45 degrees.
